Salivahanan is the Principal and has over 31 years of teaching, research and industrial experience both in India and abroad. The highly qualified faculty and staff play a very important role in the realisation of SSN’s quest for excellence. The SSN Trophy was introduced in the year 2003. The tournament was held at state level amongst the Engineering colleges for Basketball, Badminton and Table Tennis, attracting participants from leading colleges from TamilNadu. What started as a state level event is now well acclaimed, National level tournament in which Chess and Tennis have been included, and also draws participants from all colleges and universities from across the nation. Recent addition to the Trophy was Squash. Apart from trophies and individual prizes, cash awards worth ₹ 2 Lakh are also awarded in the tournament. The SSN trophy is always highlighted with sports celebrities like Mr. John Wright, Mr. Ramesh Krishnan, Mr.Sharathkamal, Ms.Rushmi Chakaravarthi and Shri.Robin Singh inaugurating the events.


SSN strives to achieve a balance between education and sports. It is the standpoint of the Institute that sport supplements education by affording a chance for the practitioners to take their mind relaxed off the monotony of the systematic visits often to Libraries and Labs.The facilities provided at SSN include indoor stadium for basketball, badminton, modern glass squash courts, a hall for table tennis along with state-of-the-art fitness centre and an expansive ground encompassing an athletic track, synthetic tennis courts for other outdoor games. We have many international players who blossomed in SSN and made our country proud. To name a few, Indian Cricket star R.Ashwin, Commonwealth silver medalist (2010) K.Shamini, (International Table Tennis player), S.Nitin (International Chess Master), Irfan Hussain (Srilankan open Tennis Champion 2011), K.Sriteja (Asian Junior Badminton Championship silver medalist 2010), R.S.Raja ( National Youth Table Tennis Champion 2008) and the Asian Junior gold medalist ( 2011 & 2012) A.Anaka who currently ranked world No.2 in junior Squash. Every year Sports persons are honoured and encouraged with sports quota admissions, cash awards and scholarships.
